81-Year-Old San Jose Man Killed in Auto Collision near Ridgewood Scale
WILLITS, CA (November 17, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, Cynthia Peck was involved in a fatal two-vehicle crash on Highway 101.
The incident occurred around 4:00 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway just north of Ridgewood Scale on November 11th.
According to California Highway Patrol, the driver of a northbound 2015 Toyota Tacoma veered into oncoming lanes before hitting a dirt embankment.
As the Toyota came to rest on the southbound lanes, an approaching 2016 Subaru Wagon attempted to avoid the vehicle. However, the Subaru hit the Toyota driver who had exited his vehicle.
Responding medical personnel declared the Toyota driver – an 81-year-old man from San Jose – dead at the scene. At this time, the identity of the deceased driver remains undisclosed to the public.
Meanwhile, the Willits woman driving the Subaru remained unharmed. She was later identified as 38-year-old Cynthia Peck. Following preliminary duties, investigators said that intoxication did not play a factor in the crash.
