33-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Carpenter Road

LACEY, WA (November 16, 2023) – Early Monday evening, one woman was fatally struck in a pedestrian accident on Interstate 5.

The deadly incident occurred around 6:00 p.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway near Carpenter Road on November 6th.

Officers say the driver of a vehicle was traveling in the middle northbound lane of Interstate 5 approaching Carpenter Road.

For reasons under investigation, the female pedestrian suddenly walked out in front of the vehicle.

As a result, the driver struck the woman, causing life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, paramedics later pronounced the 33-year-old female pedestrian dead.

Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The driver displayed no signs of impairment, and no charges were filed.

Motorists were directed to Martin Way East as authorities cleared the scene. All northbound lanes were reopened by 12:30 a.m. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information about the pedestrian accident on Interstate 5 is still underway.
