Fiery Collision near Harbord Boulevard Resulted in Fatality

COSTA MESA, CA (May 26, 2023) – Early Thursday morning, a two-vehicle crash on 405 Freeway claimed the life of one person. 

Officers responded to the incident around 12:56 a.m. along the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway near Harbor Boulevard. 

Upon arrival, the California Highway Patrol discovered an unresponsive victim trapped inside one of the vehicles involved. Tragically, the victim succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

According to the investigators, a collision between two vehicles caused one of the cars to catch on fire. However, the circumstances that led up to the collision remain unclear. 

In the end, officials issued a SigAlert for at least four lanes of 405 Freeway throughout the morning of Thursday. 

At this time, the identity of the deceased victim has not been released to the public, pending notification from the next of kin. 

Costa Mesa Officials continue to investigate the fatal two-vehicle crash.
