Carjacking Incident Ends in Fatal Pedestrian-Auto Collision Near Potrero Avenue

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (May 25, 2023) – Tuesday morning, a pedestrian crash on 16th Street involving a stolen vehicle suspect ends in a fatal crash.

Officers responded to reports of carjacking around 10:00 a.m. in the area of Folsom and Mabini Streets. Afterward, the suspect led the officers in pursuit after being spotted near Kansas and 25th Streets.

Ultimately, the pursuit came to a stop after the stolen vehicle crashed into a bus stop at 16th Avenue and Potrero Avenue.

Responding emergency personnel said at least five people sustained serious injuries from the incident. Tragically, it was confirmed that one of the patients succumbed to their injuries a short while after.

Furthermore, the bus stop and a Boston Market restaurant also sustained significant damages from the crash.

At this time, the identities of the victims involved in the incident remain undisclosed, pending notification from the next of kin.

In the end, the officers took the suspect into custody.
