86-Year-Old Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Fatal Collision near Hacienda Avenue

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (May 19, 2023) – Saturday afternoon, Peter Heaton was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Palm Drive.

Police arrived to the scene around 12:30 p.m., near Hacienda Avenue on May 13th.

According to reports, 86-year-old Heaton was standing near a bus stop when Kristiana Raylene Saiz veered onto the sidewalk and struck him. Upon impact, Saiz fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting authorities.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced 86-year-old Heaton, of Desert Hot Springs dead at the scene.

Following preliminary duties, officers located and arrested 33-year-old Saiz for hit-and-run causing death. At this time, the crash is still under investigation and any witnesses are encouraged to contact local authorities as soon as possible.
