Male Victim Pronounced Dead after 4-Car Accident near Gopher Canyon Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 12, 2023) – Sunday morning, one man was killed and several others were hurt in a four-vehicle collision on Interstate 15.
The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway just south of Gopher Canyon Road.
For reasons unknown, a Dodge Challenger was stopped in the No. 1 lane. The 47-year-old male driver of an Infiniti G37 then rear-ended the Dodge.
Shortly after, an Acura DMX driven by a 39-year-old man struck the Infiniti as well. In addition, the Acura driver also hit the side of a Honda CRV in the No. 2 lane.
First responders arrived and declared the 32-year-old male Dodge driver dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his name.
Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the Infiniti driver and his two passengers to a local hospital for treatment of significant injuries. Following preliminary duties, officers say drugs or alcohol were a potential factor.
