One Driver Injured in Wrong-Way Collision near Telephone Road
OXNARD, CA (May 11, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, police arrested Adrian Garcia after causing injury in a DUI Crash along the 101 Freeway.
Officers received reports of a northbound vehicle going the wrong way around 1:57 a.m. on the southbound 101 Freeway near Telephone Road.
According to reports, officers attempted to forcefully stop the 2002 Mitsubishi Galant by hitting the left side of the vehicle. However, the driver continued to flee northbound in the southbound lanes.
An oncoming southbound 1998 Toyota Avalon swerved off the road to avoid hitting the Mitsubishi. The first responders said the Toyota driver sustained minor injuries.
Ultimately, the suspect’s vehicle became disabled while attempting to turn into a center median of the highway.
Police arrested and booked 22-year-old Adrian Garcia of Ventura to Ventura County Main Jail for DUI causing bodily injury.
At this time, Garcia’s bail is set at $50,000, and he is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
