32-Year-Old Oakland Pedestrian Hurt after Pursuit Ends in Crash near East 11th Street
OAKLAND, CA (May 9, 2023) – Thursday evening, Anton Jackson Jr. was involved in a pedestrian crash on 23rd Avenue that left one injured.
The incident happened on May 4th, shortly after 5:30 p.m., near 23rd Avenue, East 11th Street, and Interstate 880.
Initially, a Homeland Security Officer was pursuing an Acura TL that failed to stop a red light. The Acura, driven by 22-year-old Anton Jackson Jr. of Oakland, then hit a Nissan Altima and a 32-year-old Oakland resident, who was walking in the area.
Following the collision, Jackson Jr. immediately fled the scene but was soon captured.
Responding emergency personnel arrived at the site of the collision shortly after. From there, medics transported the pedestrian to Highland Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Jackson Jr. was transported to Santa Rita Jail and arrested after he was treated.
Meanwhile, the Nissan driver managed to escape without injuries and cooperated with the investigators.
