BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 5, 2023) – Wednesday night, a pedestrian crash on California Avenue claimed the life of one person. 

The incident happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of California Avenue and Real Road. 

According to reports, a pedestrian was crossing the road in an unmarked crosswalk. There, they were struck by a vehicle.

First responders at the scene discovered a man lying in the roadway suffering from significant injuries. 

Following the collision, the male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries despite the life-saving efforts of the paramedics. 

At this time, the identity of the deceased victim remains undisclosed.

Meanwhile, the driver involved was not unharmed and cooperated with the investigators. Police said that drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the incident.
