Angel Tovar Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 58 [Bakersfield, CA]
39-Year-Old Man Dies after Being Struck by Multiple Vehicles
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 5, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, a hit-and-run crash on Highway 58 claimed the life of Angel Tovar.
The incident happened on April 22nd, just after 12:00 a.m., officers were dispatched at Highway 58, just east of Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Upon investigation, the officers have learned that 39-year-old Tovar was walking in the third lane when he was struck by a vehicle which later drove away. Then, Tovar was struck by three other vehicles but the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the officials.
Afterward, the westbound lanes and the third lane of the highway was blocked for four hours.
Unfortunately, Tovar succumbed to his injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, police ruled out alcohol or drugs as a factor of the incident and further investigation is still underway.
