43-Year-Old Man Dies after Being Struck by Semi-Truck on La Media Road

OTAY MESA, CA (February 27, 2023) – Sunday night, police responded to a scooter-vehicle crash on La Media Road that took the life of one man.

It happened at around 8:00 p.m., February 19th, when a 43-year-old man driving an Italika W150 motorized scooter was traveling northbound near the Mexico border when he was run over by a heavy vehicle or semi-truck.

Furthermore, Officer John Buttle stated that the heavy vehicle continued to drive away heading northbound.

Unfortunately, the man suffered a skull fracture and multiple rib injuries which later led to his death.

At this time, the identity of the deceased was not yet determined and the SDPD Traffic Division is handling further investigations.

Moreover, a large portion of the area was briefly shut down to allow for cleanup but has since been reopened.
