22-Year-Old Woman Dead, Suspect Arrested after DUI Accident near Pacific Beach
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 26, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, police responded to a DUI crash that claimed the life of Vanessa Urbina Aragonez.
On January 22nd, at around 1:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a collision at 3400 Riviera Drive, near Pacific Beach.
According to SDPD, a Chevrolet Tahoe occupied by 22-year-old Aragonez and a 24-year-old man, collided with a Toyota Tacoma. Authorities eventually identified the Tacoma driver as 22-year-old Nestor Alejandro Hernandez who was involved in the incident.
Preliminary investigation showed that Aragonez and the man just got out of the parked Chevy when the Toyota veered off the highway and struck them.
Aragonez was pronounced dead at the scene due to the extent of their injuries and another man was pinned underneath the vehicle.
Furthermore, the man was immediately transported to the hospital in an unknown state. Consequently, Hernandez was arrested and taken into custody at San Diego Central Jail.
Hernandez was arrested under suspicion of murder, vehicular manslaughter, and DUI causing injury. At this time, the fatal DUI collision on Riviera Drive is still under investigation.
