25-Year-Old Man Arrested after Killing One Woman in Fiery Collision near Clovis Avenue
FOWLER, CA (December 7, 2022) – Saturday night, a fiery DUI crash on Highway 99 left one woman dead and Jose Garcida arrested.
The incident happened at around 11:00 p.m., in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near Clovis Avenue.
According to the initial reports, a Mitsubishi Galant was blocking the middle lane of traffic in the area. Garcida, in a Toyota, struck the Mitsubishi, causing both vehicles to leave the road, and the Mitsubishi to catch fire. The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 28-year-old woman, became trapped in her vehicle.
Police arrived at the scene and found the Mitsubishi on fire. Officials pronounced her dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, Garcida suffered injuries due to the crash. Authorities transported him to a hospital and arrested him later for vehicular manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol.
