61-Year-Old Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision near Mathilda Avenue

SUNNYVALE, CA (December 7, 2022) – Wednesday evening, one man was pronounced dead after a car accident on Highway 237.

The fatal collision happened around 6:50 p.m., just east of Mathilda Avenue in the city of Sunnyvale. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 62-year-old woman driving a 2007 Lexus ES 350 took her eyes off the road. As a result, she failed to hit the brakes on time and rear-ended the vehicle in front of her. 

Investigators said the 61-year-old male passenger was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Medical responders transported the man to Stanford Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday afternoon. 

At this time, the deceased victim’s identity remains undisclosed to the public.
