Muni Bus Hijacker Arrested after Multi-Vehicle Crash on Cortland Avenue
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (December 5, 2022) – Friday night, authorities arrested Rickey Rene Dancy after a stolen bus crashed into multiple vehicles.
Initially, the carjacking happened around 7:53 p.m., near the intersection of Cortland Avenue and Mission Street.
According to investigators, the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Dancy, hijacked a Muni bus by assaulting the bus driver.
Subsequently, the suspect drove the bus for about 2 miles north, crashing into at least ten different cars before stopping at 19th and Guerrero Streets.
Footage from the incident showed the bus crashed into a car while attempting to make a right turn. Eventually, an ambulance arrived at the scene and provided aid to Dancy and the bus driver suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.
In the end, officials booked Dancy to San Francisco County Jail, facing at least 17 charges. An active investigation into the collision is currently underway.
