Traffic Accident near Poinsettia Lane Resulted in Injuries
CARLSBAD, CA (September 27, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, a driver was hospitalized following a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 5.
The collision happened at 5:30 a.m. on the northbound Interstate 5, south of Poinsettia Lane.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a dark-colored SUV hit a female driver in a silver Nissan Sentra in the number two lane of Interstate 5 north. The impact of the crash caused the Sentra to overturn onto the right shoulder. Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene shortly after and rushed the driver of the Sentra to Scripps Memorial Hospital with moderate non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are currently looking for the suspect’s vehicle, possibly a Jeep with a skull and crossbones tire cover. Those with further information regarding the Interstate 5 hit-and-run are encouraged to contact the Oceanside Area CHP office at (760) 643-3400.
