1 Dead after Single-Car DUI Accident on Sierra Springs Drive

PLUMAS COUNTY, CA (July 25, 2022) – Tuesday afternoon, Danna Forbis was killed and Leonard Forbis and Deborah Castillo were hurt in a crash.

The fatal collision happened around 12:01 p.m., on Highway 70 just east of Sierra Springs Drive on July 19th.

Leonard was driving the Subaru and lost control before crossing the solid double-yellow line between the east and westbound lanes. Eventually, the Subaru struck a nearby pine tree on the right shoulder of the highway.

Emergency crews extricated 42-year-old Leonard, of Reno and 34-year-old Deborah, of Quincy from the Subaru. Paramedics then transported them to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 33-year-old Danna Forbis, of Reno dead at the scene. Investigators say she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Leonardo was later arrested and charged with a DUI and manslaughter. Both lanes on Highway 70 were temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties, but have since reopened.
