One Man Killed in Traffic Accident on 1 1/2 Avenue

KINGS COUNTY, CA (June 16, 2022) – An unidentified man died Saturday after a pedestrian crash on Highway 198.

The California Highway Patrol responded in the area of Highway 198 and 1 1/2 Avenue around 11:00 p.m.

According to reports, a driver attempting to pass another vehicle when they lost control.

As a result, the vehicle collided into the center divider and struck a male pedestrian. Responding officials pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Although, officers have not yet released their identity.

Meanwhile, paramedics took the driver to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Authorities do not currently believe that drugs or alcohol were factors. However, an active investigation remains ongoing.
