Charles French Injured in Fatal Crash on Highway 299 [Whiskeytown, CA]

Head-On Collision near Whiskeytown Visitor Center Left One Fatality

WHISKEYTOWN, CA (June 10, 2022) – On Wednesday, a head-on crash on Highway 299 left one woman dead and Charles French injured, police said.

The accident happened on Highway 299 near Whiskeytown Visitor Center around 4:30 p.m., per initial reports.

Furthermore, the investigation revealed that the crash occurred when a Ford-F150, driven by 57-year-old French, crossed the double-yellow lines for reasons unknown.

As a result, the Ford collided head-on with a Volvo truck-tractor.

Unfortunately, the female passenger inside the Ford succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Meanwhile, French sustained major injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Center by paramedics.

The big–rig driver, identified as 29-year-old Benjamin Cathcart, did not sustain injuries according to the report.

At this time, the California Highway Patrol officials are currently investigating the head-on crash at this time.
