David Alvarez Arrested after Hit-and-Run on Highway 178 [Bakersfield, CA]

One Killed after Hit-and-Run Collision on Highway 178, Driver Arrested

BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 31, 2022) – Police arrested 28-year-old David Alvarez following a fatal hit-and-run in northeast Bakersfield Sunday.

According to the police, Alvarez drove a pickup truck westbound on Highway 178 last Saturday night. At the same time, a woman driving southbound on Alfred Harrell Highway entered the intersection.

As a result, Alvarez struck the woman’s vehicle for reasons unknown.

Subsequently, officers responded at the scene around 8:41 p.m. after reports of a hit-and-run collision.

However, Alvarez immediately fled the scene before authorities arrived.

Unfortunately, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene, although her identity has not been released at this time. In the end, Bakersfield Officials managed to apprehend Alvarez on Sunday and will be facing a number of charges.
