Suspected DUI Driver Faces Charges after Collision near Congress Valley Road

NAPA COUNTY, CA (May 26, 2022) – Sunday afternoon, Nicholas Burchett, and Guadalupe Lopez Alvarado were hurt in a car crash.

The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m., in the 4000 block of Old Sonoma Road. Dispatchers responded to the scene just south of Congress Valley Road.

Per reports, Burchett’s was driving a northbound 2016 Subaru Impreza when he crossed the centerline and sideswiped a 2016 Kia.

Shortly after, the Subaru also struck a 2015 Toyota Camry, driven by Alvarado, head-on.

As a result, 26-year-old Burchett sustained major injuries and was taken to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center along with 47-year-old Alvarado.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old passenger from Alvarado’s vehicle suffered from moderate injuries. Additionally, a 22-year-old man from Sonoma driving the Kia remained uninjured.

Following preliminary investigations, Burchett is facing a potential DUI charge causing injury. At this time, Napa County Officials continue to investigate the incident.
