One Dies in Head-On Semi-Truck Collision in Borrego Springs

BORREGO SPRINGS, CA (May 13, 2022) – Friday, one was killed and another was injured in a big-rig accident on Borrego Salton Sea Way.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m., on desert road Borrego Salton Sea Way.

According to reports, a man was driving a GMC pickup-truck east on the road with a passenger in the vehicle. For reasons unknown, an oncoming big-rig veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the pickup.

The 55-year-old male driver of the semi-trailer did not receive any wounds. However, medics airlifted a 57-year-old man from Indio to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido for treatment of serious injuries.

Meanwhile, paramedics pronounced the GMC driver dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.
