Evelin Salas Melgoza Killed and Noe Manzanarez Arrested in Car Crash on 10 Freeway [West Covina, CA]

One Woman Killed in Traffic Accident near Azusa Avenue, One Arrested

WEST COVINA, CA (May 2, 2022) –  Police arrested 19-year-old Noe Manzanarez after the death of Evelin Salas Melgoza in a fatal car crash on 10 Freeway Wednesday.

The accident happened at around 12:02 a.m. on the eastbound 10 Freeway near Azusa Avenue.

According to officers, Manzanarez of Palmdale was driving a Toyota Camry east on the No. 1 lane.

For reasons unknown, he then rear-ended a Nissan Sentra that had come to a halt due to heavy traffic.

Furthermore, the impact of the collision caused them to collide with a Ford F-350 pickup that also stopped in the next lane.

Eventually, officers pronounced the woman driving the Nissan dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the woman as 22-year-old Evelin Salas Melgoza.

Manzanarez sustained minor injuries, and the 34-year-old Ford driver escaped unharmed.

Meanwhile, authorities eventually arrested Manzanarez on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony DUI causing injury or death.

Moreover, West Covina police did not release any additional information at this time. However, an active investigation is currently underway.
