25-Year-Old Driver Dead after DUI Collision near Two Bunch Palms Trail
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (April 14, 2022) – Christopher Burciaga Alcantar was arrested Friday night, after a hit-and-run crash on Palm Drive.
Per reports, Alcantar made an illegal U-turn near the 14000 block of Palm Drive around 8:15 p.m.
As a result, Alcantar’s Ford Ranger struck a Toyota Tundra driving northbound, causing the vehicle to roll over.
Due to the impact of the collision, the 25-year-old Toyota Tundra driver died at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released their identity.
After the impact, Alcantar fled the scene before he was found by officers at his home a short time later. Officials arrested him for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, hit-and-run, and other charges.
At this time, Alcantar remains at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio in place of $75,000 bail. Additionally, Desert Hot Springs Officials continue to investigate the crash.
