Cleotide Rodriguez-Delgado Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on Highway 20 [Potter Valley, CA]

49-Year-Old Man Dead after Car Accident near Port Valley Road

POTTER VALLEY, CA (March 30, 2022) – Monday afternoon, Cleotide Rodriguez-Delgado died after a three-vehicle crash on Highway 20.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on March 28th, just east of Potter Valley Road.

Based on their investigation, officers said that a 60-year-old Ukiah man was driving a blue 2003 Mini Cooper eastbound on Highway 20 in rainy conditions. The Mini Cooper driver then lost control as they traveled through stagnant water from the rain.

As a result, the vehicle spun out into the westbound lane where it struck the driver’s side of a 2018 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 66-year-old Oregon man. The Mini Cooper also struck a 2019 Ford Explorer driven by a 49-year-old man from Lake County.

Passing motorists stopped to help pull the driver of the Cooper and his female passenger out of the vehicle.

The driver sustained major injuries, while the passenger, 49-year-old Delgado of Ukiah, died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Tacoma driver remained unharmed, while the driver of the Explorer suffered moderate injuries.

At this time, CHP is still investigating the incident’s cause, but they have said neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be contributing factors.
