Man Dead after Motorized Scooter Accident on Imperial Highway [Watts, CA]

Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Collision near Grandee Avenue

WATTS, CA (March 29, 2022) – Late Saturday night, a man was pronounced dead after a motorized scooter accident on Imperial Highway.

California Highway Patrol officers responded around 10:50 p.m., along the eastbound lanes of the highway near Grandee Avenue.

According to reports, a 19-year-old driver driving made a left turn onto Grandee, and struck the scooter rider for unknown reasons.

Paramedics arrived and rushed the rider to a hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police later described the scooter rider as a 40-year-old man, but his name is still not released.

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. At this time, it is unknown if officers cited or arrested the teen driver.

Watts Police officers continue to investigate the fatal crash and will release additional information once it becomes available.
