Bicyclist Seriously Hurt in Hit-and-Run Accident on 51st Avenue [Phoenix, AZ]

One Injured, Driver Arrested after Bicycle Collision near Interstate 10

PHOENIX, AZ (March 25, 2022) – Thursday morning, a bicyclist was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run accident on 51st Avenue.

The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m., just southwest of 51st Avenue and Interstate 10. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

Reports indicate that the driver of a vehicle hit a man riding his bike. As a result, the cyclist sustained serious but non-life-threatening injures. Moreover, the involved driver fled the scene before authorities arrived.

According to a responding officer, crews have most likely located the involved vehicle and detained an adult female suspect about two hours after the incident.

Additionally, video footage from an Arizona family showed a red wagon in the street and a bicycle on the side of the road several feet away. Officers have not disclosed further information to the public at this time.
