Joshua Vasquez-Escamilla Killed in Head-On Crash on Ramona Expressway [Lakeview, CA]
21-Year-Old Driver Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Hansen Avenue
LAKEVIEW, CA (March 21, 2022) – Thursday morning, Joshua Vasquez-Escamilla died in a two-vehicle crash on Ramona Expressway.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the collision occurred around 5:40 a.m., on March 17th near Hansen Avenue.
Based on their initial investigation, crews believe that 21-year-old Vasquez-Escamilla, of San Jacinto was driving a Hyundai Sonata westbound on Ramona Expressway.
For unknown reasons, he drifted into the opposite lane and crashed head-on against an Isuzu box van. Upon impact, Vasquez-Escamilla suffered life-threatening injuries before he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, medics transported the 34-year-old van driver of Los Angeles, to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Following preliminary investigations, police believe alcohol was not a factor in the head-on accident.
Both directions of the roadway were temporarily closed to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, no further details are available as the crash remains under investigation.
