Corona Man Fatally Struck in Train Collision in Corona

CORONA, CA (March 17, 2022) – Authorities identified George Zayas as the deceased victim in a train incident in Corona, early Sunday morning.

According to police, the incident happened around 3:55 a.m., on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks at the east end of the city.

Officer Tobias Kouroubacalis said a freight train struck a vehicle staying on the tracks for unknown reasons. As a result, 27-year-old George Zayas of Corona died at the scene.

Meanwhile, nobody in the locomotive received injuries. Corona Officials later shut down the tracks for several hours as the authorities cleared the wreckage.
