1 Killed, 2 Injured in Rollover Accident near 605 Freeway
DOWNEY, CA (March 10, 2022) – Saturday night, Jaylon Connish was killed and Dajon Hancox was hurt in a rollover collision on 5 Freeway.
The crash happened around 10:50 p.m., on a transition road from the southbound freeway to the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway.
Per reports, the driver of a 2010 Nissan Altima veered to the right and collided into a raised asphalt curb. The vehicle eventually struck a nearby light pole before rolling over multiple times and coming to a rest at the bottom of a dirt embankment.
Eventually, paramedics took three people to an area trauma center. Due to the extent of injuries, medics later pronounced 17-year-old Connish dead.
In addition, firefighters also extricated two people from the Nissan and another trapped inside the wreckage. The 17-year-old driver later identified as Hancox, was transported to St. Francis Medical Center for treatment.
Downey officials are still working to identify the circumstances surrounding the crash. Once available, further details will be provided.
