37-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Accident near 150th Avenue

SAN LEANDRO, CA (March 8, 2022) – A motorcycle collision on Interstate 580 killed one rider and injured one passenger, Friday afternoon.

The incident happened around 1:15 p.m., on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 580, just before the 150th Avenue off-ramp.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a Harley Davidson Motorcycle with two occupants entered the highway from the Grand Avenue on-ramp. There, the motorcycle collided with a Nissan Murano SUV that was stopped in traffic in the right lane.

The crash ejected both the rider and the passenger onto the open No. 3 lane, where the driver of a Ford Explorer hit one rider. Meanwhile, the impact sent the motorcycle along the east traffic lanes, into a second motorcycle stopped in traffic.

Eventually, the firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the rider to Eden Medical Center, in Castro Valley where he later died.

In addition, the passenger remained hospitalized with major injuries, and is now listed in stable condition. At this time, authorities only identified the deceased victim as a 37-year-old Modesto resident.
