Driver Killed in Vehicle Crash on Interstate 805 [National City, CA]

28-Year Old Killed in Rollover Crash on Southbound Interstate 805

NATIONAL CITY, CA (March 7, 2022)  – A 28-year old driver died in a two-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 805 early Monday morning.

California Highway Patrol said the collision happened at around 2:11 a.m. on Interstate 805.

Furthermore, authorities said the crash involved a Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra.

Moreover, officials said the driver of the Civic “lost control after the initial collision,” causing the vehicle to overturn down an embankment.

Meanwhile, paramedics pronounced the Civic’s 28-year-old male driver from San Diego dead at the scene.

The driver of the Elantra, a 21-year-old man from Chula Vista, sustained no injuries and stayed at the scene following the incident.

Officials said the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine if the driver of the Honda was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
