George Miranda Jr. Dead after DUI Crash on Wooley Road [Oxnard, CA]

47-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed; Andres Morales Arrested after DUI Collision near Oxnard Boulevard

OXNARD, CA (February 21, 2022) – Sunday evening, 47-year-old George Miranda Jr. was killed in a DUI crash on Wooley Road.

The incident took place around 10:00 p.m., just east of Oxnard Boulevard. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

According to reports, the driver of an eastbound 2018 Honda Civic was speeding at a high rate on Wooley Road. Shortly after, the vehicle drifted off the south side of the roadway after passing through the intersection.

There, the speeding driver struck Miranda who was riding a blue BMX-style bicycle. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, Miranda succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Meanwhile the driver of the Honda car, 27-year-old Andres Morales, did not sustain injuries.

Per reports, Morales was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Officers arrested him for suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. He was also booked into Ventura County jail with a bail set at $50,000.

The crash prompted an overnight closure of Wooley Road east of Oxnard Boulevard while police investigated the crash scene.

At this time, an investigation is still ongoing.
