17-Year-Old Driver Arrested after Deadly Pedestrian Crash on Ironwood Drive
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (February 18, 2022) – Saturday night, police arrested a 17-year-old after a fatal collision on Palm Drive.
The accident happened around 6:30 p.m., in the area of Palm and Ironwood Drive. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.
California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a car hit a pedestrian under unknown circumstances. Due to the impact of the collision, first responders declared the pedestrian dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the at-fault driver allegedly fled the scene of the accident. Although, police later identified the vehicle and driver by Sunday morning. The driver, who resides in Desert Hot Springs, was apprehended.
Authorities charged the suspect with felony hit-and-run with death, as well as other offenses. Due to his young age, officials concealed the suspect’s name. However, an active investigation is underway.
