Motorcycle Rider Dead Following Police Chase on Lincoln Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 10, 2022) – A 30-year-old man lost his life early Thursday morning in a police pursuit crash on University Avenue.
The fatal incident took place at 1:44 a.m., in the 3300 block of Lincoln Avenue, near University Avenue.
According to reports, authorities began a traffic stop with the rider for speeding. However, the rider refused to yield and accelerated away from cops, and a pursuit ensued.
The motorcyclist then collided with a curb at the University Avenue intersection. According to police, he then collided with a metal barrier that threw him off his motorcycle.
Responding medics arrived and declared the 30-year-old man deceased at the scene. Police later confirmed that the rider did not wear a helmet at the time of the accident.
