Head-On Collision near Ashlan Avenue Left One Dead, Two Injured

FRESNO, CA (January 25, 2022) – A head-on collision on Golden State Boulevard claimed the life of Joe Silva Thursday morning.

According to the police, the incident occurred just before 7:00 a.m., on Golden State Boulevard near Ashlan Avenue.

Investigators later determined that a silver truck caused a collision on Highway 180 and Highway 99 minutes before and drove off. After the initial impact, the person he struck started chasing him towards Golden State Boulevard.

Shortly after, the suspect driver then collided head-on with a black truck. Due to the impact, the black truck driver died at the scene. Authorities later identified him as 58-year-old Silva, of Fresno.

Meanwhile, responders located and transported the suspect and their passenger to a local hospital with significant injuries.

Furthermore, both directions of the roadway shutdown for an undisclosed amount of time to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, Fresno Officials are still currently investigating the fatal collision.
