Suspected DUI Crash on San Joaquin River Left One Injured, Two Teens Killed
LATHROP, CA (January 24, 2022) – Two teenagers died in a possible DUI crash near the San Joaquin River Friday evening.
The accident happened in the San Joaquin River by Dos Reis Road around 10 p.m.
Paramedics immediately responded to the scene upon receiving the report about the crash.
Furthermore, according to the CHP, a 17-year-old driver in a Honda Accord was speeding on westbound Dos Reis Road when he drove beyond the end of the road, through a fence, finally flipping into the river.
Moreover responding officers located two girls, 16 and 17-year-old, dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, rescuers extricated another 16-year-old girl from the car.
After that, paramedics took the injured 16-year-old girl to the hospital for treatment.
The driver, on the other hand, successfully exited the car. Police eventually arrested him under suspicion of DUI.
Officials withheld the identity of the persons involved at this time since they are all minors.
CHP officials have no other information of the collision, however, an active investigation is ongoing.
