Multi-Vehicle Collision on Interstate 880 Left One Dead, One Injured
HAYWARD, CA (January 21, 2022) – Wednesday morning, a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 880 left one person dead and another injured.
The incident happened at around 11:10 a.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway, just north of the Stevenson Boulevard exit.
As per reports, CHP immediately responded to a four-vehicle collision that happened under unknown circumstances. Although, the events leading up to the accident remain unclear.
In addition, paramedics arrived and located one person dead and another with unspecified injuries. At this time, authorities have not released the names of the victims involved.
Meanwhile, debris from the crash caused road closure and traffic backup in the area, but has since reopened around 3:40 p.m.
Authorities said it is unknown whether speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the crash. However, an active investigation is still currently underway.
