Head-On Wrong-Way Crash on Loop 101 Left One Dead

PHOENIX, AZ (December 9, 2021) – One person died and two sustained injuries after a wrong-way crash on Loop 101 last Saturday morning.

The incident took place shortly after 3:00 a.m. near Loop 101 and 19th Avenue. Crews responded to the scene shortly after.

According to reports, the driver of an unspecified white vehicle was heading west in the eastbound lane when they collided head-on with a gray SUV.

Shortly after the initial collision, the driver of a red sports vehicle also collided with the gray SUV. The second collision resulted in debris striking a different black car.

Due to the impact of the collision, the white vehicle’s wrong-way driver died as a result of their injuries. Although, authorities have not yet released their identity.

Meanwhile, the gray SUV’s and red sports car’s two drivers suffered significant but non-life threatening injuries.

As per reports, the driver of the red sports vehicle was suspected to be inebriated. Moreover, the wrong-way vehicle’s driver has yet to be identified.

At this time, an active investigation is still underway.
