7-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized after Collision near Horace Mann Elementary School
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 6, 2021) – A 7-year-old boy and a woman were hospitalized after a pedestrian crash on Niles Street.
Authorities said this occurred around 8:00 a.m., at Catalpa way near Horace Mann Elementary School. The young boy and woman were crossing the street within a marked crosswalk when a car hit them.
According to reports, the driver of a Ford Explorer did not see them upon making a left turn from Catalpa Way onto Niles. As a result, both pedestrians were struck.
First responders took both pedestrians to Kern Medical for further treatment. The boy suffered major injuries from the collision while the woman suffered minor ones.
According to initial investigation, alcohol or drugs did not appear to be a factor in the incident.
