Solo Car Crash on State Route 240 Left Cassandra Welch and 9-Month-Old Baby Injured

KENNEWICK, WA (November 29, 2021) – Cassandra Welch and a 9-month-old baby sustained injuries after a solo car crash on State Route 240 early Monday morning.

The incident happened around 1:00 a.m. of November 15, eastbound on State Route 240, on the ramp to northbound SR 395 near Blue Bridge.

According to officials, Welch lost control of the car and veered off the highway crashing into a jersey barrier before hitting a guardrail.

Responding officers found Welch and the infant not properly strapped in their vehicle. Paramedics rushed the two to a nearby hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

At this time, investigators are unsure as to what caused the driver to veer off the road. However, an active investigation remains ongoing.

The law requires that all drivers and their passengers wear safety belts while vehicles are moving. Not only will seat belts help you keep safe, but it also minimizes the chances of a fatal accident. Be smart and comply with seat belt requirements.
