Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 40 [Albuquerque, NM]

Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near Unser Boulevard Southwest

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (November 18, 2021) – Early Tuesday morning, a man was killed in a deadly pedestrian accident on Interstate 40.

Emergency crews responded to the scene around 5:40 a.m., near Unser Boulevard Southwest. Per reports, officers were flagged down by a passerby in the area.

Investigators say the driver of a white Dodge truck was traveling from northbound Unser onto eastbound I-40. There, the pedestrian walked out onto the roadway in dark colored clothing.

As a result, the driver struck the man on the vehicle’s passenger side as he entered the on-ramp. Upon impact, the driver stopped and called 911.

First responders pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene, due to the extent of his condition. Although, authorities have not yet released his name.

Following investigations, police do not believe that impairment or speed contributed to the accident. At this time, an active investigation is still currently underway.
