At Least 1 Killed, Several Hurt in Collision on 215 Freeway [Riverside, CA]

Multiple Children Injured in Deadly Car Accident near 60 Freeway

RIVERSIDE, CA (November 12, 2021) – Thursday morning, at least one person was killed, and several were hurt in a collision on 215 Freeway.

Officers responded to reports of the accident around 7:00 a.m., on the southbound lanes of the highway.

According to reports, a Toyota Sienna with seven people inside drove directly into the path of a box-truck.

As a result, the box-truck driver was unable to avoid striking the vehicle, and struck its left rear side. Upon impact, the Toyota began spinning out of control.

California Highway Patrol says the van then entered a gore point between the transition road and eastbound 60 Freeway, before striking a collapsible guardrail.

Medics pronounced a passenger inside the Toyota dead at the scene. Six others were taken to hospitals, several of which were children who suffered traumatic injuries.

Firefighters had to extricate some of the occupants from the wreckage, due to the extent of damage.

Moreover, the box-truck driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Impairment was not suspected to be a factor.
