3 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident on West Cook Street in Santa Maria
SANTA MARIA, CA (November 9, 2021) – 61-year-old Rick Hill was involved in a multi-car crash on West Cook Street last Friday.
The incident occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m., in the 1000 block of West Cook Street. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after.
According to the CHP, Hill was driving east on West Cook in a green Prius. There, a black SUV ran the stop sign while heading south at a high rate of speed, clipping and completely removing his rear bumper.
Prior to that crash, the SUV collided into four other cars, including a grey sedan. The impact caused the SUV to spin 180 degrees before coming to rest between a tree and a nearby house.
Responding medics arrived took the SUV’s female driver, her male juvenile passenger, and another individual to a nearby hospital.
At this time, it is unknown whether speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the crash.
Authorities also have not released the identities of all parties involved. However, an active investigation is underway.
