Man Arrested after Crashing Stolen Bus on South Horton Avenue [Seattle, WA]

Stolen Bus Driver Arrested after Ramming into Multiple Vehicles along South Horton Avenue

SEATTLE, WA (November 3, 2021) – Authorities apprehended one man on Tuesday after he rammed a stolen bus into several vehicles on South Horton Avenue while escaping the police.

The accident happened around 7:50 a.m., officers received reports of a man that stole an empty bus near the intersection of South Horton and Colorado Avenue South.

While running from authorities in Seattle’s SoDo and Central District areas, the suspect hit automobiles for almost 15 minutes.

Due to the danger to the public, police chased the driver, who reached speeds of more than 50 miles per hour.

The driver drove north on Rainier, going onto 23rd Avenue, where he collided with a Metro Bus and then slammed into a light rail station construction site in the Central District at 23rd Avenue and Judkins Street.

The suspect eventually came to a halt after hitting a concrete retaining wall. He then exited the bus and fled, but police apprehended him shortly after.

Responding officers took the suspect to a hospital with unspecified injuries.  In addition, the suspect will be booked for vehicular assault and auto theft.

At this time, an active investigation remains ongoing.
