Two Separate Crashes in San Jose Left Two Fatalities

SAN JOSE, CA (October 20, 2021) – Two separate crashes on the highways of San Jose left two people killed over the weekend, CHP said.

Officers responded at the scene just after 10:41 p.m., on Sunday at Highway 237 and Great America Parkway. Crews responded to the area shortly after.

According to the authorities, an off-duty paramedic performed CPR on one person. However, CHP officers pronounced them dead at the scene around 10:59 p.m.

Reports indicate that a Honda Accord veered off-road and collided with a Honda Fit. The impact send the Accord off the right shoulder of the highway, where the vehicle struck a man.

Afterwards, the Accord stopped in the number two and three lanes where it was struck by another vehicle.

Eventually, medical responders arrived at the scene and transported the Accord driver to a hospital with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, another collision happened around 2:47 a.m. on Highway 101 near Tully Road.

Officials said a yellow Mitsubishi rear-ended a white van, causing the van to veer off the road and overturned. The Mitsubishi driver exited his vehicle and before a white Lexus struck him.

Shortly after, the Mitsubishi driver died at the scene and the paramedics took the driver of the van to a hospital.

At this time, the identities of the two deceased patients remain unavailable.
