Passenger Ejected Amidst Fatal Collision near College Boulevard

OCEANSIDE, CA (September 24, 2021) – Police are investigating a crash on State Route 78 that left at least one person dead, CHP said.

The deadly incident occurred around 10:00 p.m., on East SR-78, just east of College Boulevard, according to the investigators.

At this time, the total number of vehicles involved in the crash remains unclear. However, numerous witnesses claimed one or two vehicles caused the crash, one of which went down an embankment.

Meanwhile, a person was located laying down on the road in the eastbound lanes, and later pronounced dead.

Multiple lanes of eastbound State Route 78 were closed during cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, Oceanside officials are working to identify the victim and to point out the factors that contributed to the crash.
