Deadly Multi-Car Accident Results in Fatality on Highway 1
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (September 14, 2021) -Saturday morning, a 17-year-old boy was killed in a three-vehicle collision on Highland Drive.
The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m., at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highland Drive. Crews arrived to the scene shortly after.
According to CHP, the 17-year-old boy was driving a 1990 Volvo 240 east on Highland Drive. As he turned left onto Highway 1, a 79-year-old man driving a southbound Ford F-150 failed to stop at a red light and struck the side of the Volvo.
After the initial impact, the Volvo eventually collided with the left front end of a BMW 750 that was stopped at a red light facing northbound on Highway 1.
As a result of the crash, the 17-year-old driver of the Volvo was later pronounced dead after being taken to Sierra Vista Medical Center. In addition, the driver of the BMW suffered minor injuries.
Moreover, the driver of the Ford was transported to French Hospital with moderate injuries. However, their identity and current condition have not been given.
Meanwhile, the incident is still being investigated. Once available, more information will be released about the three-vehicle collision on Highland Drive.
