Pedestrian Dead after Fatal Collision on Market Street

OAKLAND, CA (September 2, 2021) – Early Friday morning, 29-year-old Elisha Gray was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Market Street.

The crash took place around 5:10 a.m., at 200 block of Market Street, as per the police. Officers arrived to the scene shortly after.

Officers from the Oakland Police Department located Gray laying down in the northbound lane. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Evidence from the scene indicates that Gray was most likely struck by a semi-truck who fled the scene. However, there has been no further information released.

Meanwhile, the crash is still currently being investigated.
