I-880 DUI Crash Left Passenger Dead
SAN LEANDRO, CA (August 11, 2021) – A solo DUI crash on I-880 claimed the life of a passenger last Saturday, according to CHP.
Officers responded to the incident around 3 A.M. at the Davis Street on-ramp to northbound Interstate 880 in San Leandro.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a silver Nissan Altima on its left side facing south, on the top of a concrete retaining wall.
Initially, CHP claimed to see a woman trapped underneath the vehicle and heard her screaming.
However, the responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene and transported the driver to Highland Hospital in nearby Oakland.
Later on, the San Leandro authorities arrested the driver for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The CHP continues to withhold the identities of the involved parties.
The Interstate 880 DUI crash is currently under investigation.
